I bought this backing because I got a new reel for a very lightweight rod, and was concerned that it would not have enough backing capacity for dacron. The gel spun allowed me to get plenty of backing on the reel, and the color is a nice match with the rod.

Wow...this stuff is tough...I used a REALLY sharp pair of scissors to cut the line...it frayed...so you need to use a super sharp finger nail scissors or super sharp scissors used for making flies to cut this line cleanly. It's strong stuff! Needing some backing for my reel, I looked on Amazon for 20lb. they had it I bought it. I have used Scientific Anglers in the past and have always had good results. I would recommend to anyone who is setting up their reel to use Scientific Anglers.
