Nice quality, good looks, and teriffic performance.

I just received my boots recently from Avidmax (great price!) and have been out on the river a couple of times. The Skagit River boot is super comfortable and has a nice cushion to support your ankle. These tend to run larger than most other wading boots I've owned, so no need to size up! I am an 11 to 11.5 in street shoes and ordered a size 11 which fits nicely and leaves me a little room for my foot to breathe. If you like a more snug fit you could even go one size down. I'm sure a 10 would work for me as well if I preferred a more snug fit. The boots look nice and with the extended toe cap wrapping around the boot they seem pretty durable. The sticky rubber sole worked well on a freestone stream with slippery bowling bowls strewn about the bottom. I did have a slight slip here and there, but this is a high mountain steep freestone stream. I plan to get some metal studs that will screw into the sole and that should do the trick! Additionally, the boot drains effortlessly and seemed to dry pretty quickly. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend these to anyone looking for a quality wading boot. Thank you AvidMax!

    Great Performance, Questionable Hardware

Posted by Sergio on May 26th 2018

Overall I was very satisfied with the boots in the saltwater shores of Puget Sound. The soles gripped whatever surface I walked on, from slippery boulders to loose barnacle-covered rocks. Shoes runs large to accommodate waders and thick socks, but even still I had to add some insoles to get the fit right. One glaring weakness is the hardware. After less than a year of light use I had a shoelace eye blowout on both boots on the same day. The hardware gets very corroded, even when rinsed in tapwater after every use. And the boots take very long to dry completely, further exasperating the issue. I live a short drive from the Redington Distribution Center so I was able to bring mine back and get a brand new pair. Satisfied for the price, but I will need to remember to hand dry all the metal parts from now on!
