    All in one tool

Posted by Paul P. on Jan 3rd 2017

I received this as a Christmas gift #116-7259624-2549009 and I have been out on the river twice with it. I like how it is the only tool I need on my lanyard. All of the tools that I have used function as they should. I tried to cut some heavy mono - 40 pound with the nippers and they would not cut it, but it has no problem with smaller size tippet that is used in fly fishing. I am very happy with this product.

    Practical Tool

Posted by MitchR on Dec 25th 2016

Upon arrival the Walton Tool was opened and examined and I was very pleased with the product. The tool was smaller than I had anticipated but very functional. Each function was examined closely and all the various function operated flawlessly. This tool added functions that I presently do have available while being able to eliminate all the single function tools on my vest. I was so impressed with the tool I was thinking of purchasing a second one so I am never without the tool.

    Walton's Thumb Lost in Pond

Posted by Jim Woolly on Jun 3rd 2016

I decided to try one of these to: A see if it lived up to its advertising hype, and B was it really a useful tool that was light enough and functioned well enough, to eliminate some "junk" hanging on my vest. When I first picked it up, it felt too heavy to hang on a retractor. But after I weighed it, and it only weighed 1 & 3/8 oz., and then actually used it on the vest, in the water, it works well. Stainless--no rust--excellent. Except for the scissors, all of the tool functions worked reasonably well, particularly for a multi-tool of this tiny size. Each tool pivot is very tight, which is good. They don't collapse when you are using them! The knife was not sharp enough to suit me, but was very easy to further sharpen because has a double beveled edge. I particularly liked having the split shot crimp/opener & the hook eye right at hand opener/wind knot opener, the scissors need some work. The blades are sharp enough but they don't fit closely enough together. AS you know, scissor blades have to touch as they slide past each other. These don't. The pivot rivet, (say that fast four times) is FAR too loose. You not only have to work the movable scissor blade, you have to push it to the side at the same time. I'm going to work on the rivet with a tiny punch and see if I can't tighten them up. The scissor return spring does work well. One other comment is the price seems high. After using the Walton's Thumb for a while, I hope it fits the old adage, “the most expensive thing you can afford is the cheapest thing you can buy".
