Daiichi 1130 Curved Scud Hook
SKU 988-1130Hook-P

Tiemco introduced continuous bend hooks into the American fly tying market in the 1980’s. This particular style is similar to the TMC 2487, which quickly became popularly known as a “Scud Hook” because of its shape, which is similar to the curve of freshwater shrimp (scud). Flies tied on hooks with bent shanks or continuous bends have a more natural shape or look more lifelike according to many fishers.

Features Include:
  • Down Eye
  • Barbed
  • 1X-fine wire
  • 1X-short shank
  • Continuous bend
  • Forged bronze, reversed
  • 25 Pack
  • Scud, Shrimp, Grubs, Pupae, San Juan Worms, and Nymphs

A wonderful high quality Japanese hook!

Posted by Vsevolod Seredin on Jun 22nd 2018

All the charm of this hook in its small weight - it is made of fine wire. Yes, its shape is ideal for scud, shrimp, grubs, pupae, nymphs flies. But I use it for tying dry flies with extended bodies - my adult caddis flies and Mayflies. Continuous bend, down eye forged reversed - the fish doesn't have any chance after contact with the fly.
For scud, shrimp, grubs, pupae, nymphs flies I use a heavier version - the Daiichi 1120 Fly Tying Hooks.
This is a wonderful high quality Japanese hook.
