How to Tie the 1 O'Clock Midge

How to Tie the 1 O'Clock Midge fly tying video
NymphsMidgeMay 5, 20268 min video

This week Umpqua Signature Tyer Dylan Gonzales joins us at the vise to tie the 1 O'clock Midge, a sparse, dialed-in midge pattern built to fool pressured trout in tailwaters, spring creeks, and stillwater. Tied on a size 20 short-shank curved nymph hook with a fine copper rib, sparse Fluoro Fibre, and slick UV resin, this fly punches well above its weight when the midges pop. Drop it as a dropper under a Griffith's Gnat, run it as a trailer behind a zebra midge, or fish it solo on long 6X-7X fluoro tippet. When trout key on midges, you want this one in the box. ?
