Overview
While any flies, both dry and wet, can be fished with Zen Tenkara's rods, traditionally the Japanese kebari fly is used. It is a hackle tied forward fly and can be used to nymph or dry fly when floatant is added. The hackle forward pattern creates movement when under water and can create a skittering action when used as a dry fly on the surface. These kebari flies are pre-packaged in a re-usable small plastic box, ideal for the chest or back pocket for the true minimalist.
