Daiichi 1140 Curved Up-Eye Scud Hook
SKU 988-1140Hook-P

Daiichi introduced this up-eye version of the scud hook in 1990. By incorporating an up-eye, this design gives the hook a larger “bite”. In other words, a down-eye would significantly restrict the hooking ability of this hook by closing off the gape.

Features Include:
  • Up Eye
  • Barbed
  • 1X-fine wire
  • 1X-short shank
  • Continuous bend
  • Reversed
  • Forged bronze
  • 25 Pack

    Daiichi 1140 Hook

Posted by Chester Allen on Nov 28th 2020

This is a fabulous hook for tying small mayfly and midge emerges. The hook is 1X fine, so it floats almost by itself, and the wide gape means sure hookups. This hook also works well for tying tiny caddis dries. Bucky McCormack's great Almost There Baetis is tied on this hook, and it's a great fly for hatches of small Blue Wing Olives. An amazing hook! Mash the barb!
