In this week’s episode of Tying Tuesdays, watch as Brady ties the Flashback Black Beauty! A masterpiece of simplicity, the Black Beauty created by Pat Dorsey is a fish fooling machine. If you are an avid winter fisher or love to keep tailwater fish on their toes you know the relevance of this fly. What do you need when imitating midge larva? Not much, a hook, some black thread, copper wire, and a little superfine dubbing. Add some tinsel and you have an excellent bend of an attractor/imitative fly. This fly is best fished deep depending on where the fish are holding. Make sure to add weight or weighted flies as needed to help get this fly in the column where fish are holding.
