Description
Overview
The Micro Dungeon is the smallest member of Kelly Galloup's Sex Dungeon family, tied by Montana Fly Company. It packs the jointed, two-hook design of Galloup's big articulated streamers into a fly about two inches long.
That smaller size opens up streamer fishing to more water and lighter rods. It imitates small baitfish, young sculpins and crayfish, and the jointed body swims with a lifelike kick on every strip. In black, with red-ringed eyes and a red rib, it shows the strongest silhouette possible, which is ideal at dawn and dusk, on cloudy days and in stained water.
How to Fish It
- Bank shots: cast tight to the bank and bring it back with short, erratic strips. Brown trout in particular chase that darting action.
- Swing it: on a light trout spey or switch rod, swing it across riffles and tailouts.
- Deep slots: in tight pockets, dead drift it under an indicator or tight-line it like a heavy nymph to reach fish holding deep.
- Light rods welcome: at about two inches long it casts easily on a 4- or 5-weight, so you can fish streamers without changing outfits.
Choosing Color and Size
This listing is Black in size 10. Black is the go-to in low light and off-color water, and a good first choice when you aren't sure what the fish are eating.
