Overview

The Umpqua Perdichingons Maktima in Peacock is a Euro-style nymph built around one priority: getting deep, fast, and staying there. The body is slender and segmented under a hard glossy coating, which does two jobs at once. It gives the fly almost no surface for the water to push against, and it survives fish after fish without going soft or losing its shape the way a dubbed body will.

The Peacock dressing adds the one thing a bare competition nymph can lack. Peacock herl carries a shifting green and bronze iridescence that reads as life rather than as a specific insect, and it has been pulling fish in since long before anyone coated a nymph in resin. Combined with the slim profile, it gives a fly that is buggy enough to search with and precise enough to fish over educated trout. The heavy bead head makes it a natural anchor on a tight-line or Euro-nymph rig, and it works just as well as the point fly under an indicator in a deep run.
