Overview

Umpqua's Trout Signature Master Fly Assortment marks 50 years of Umpqua working with fly tyers, gathering 48 flies from its best-known signature designers. It holds two each of 24 patterns in a UPG slit-foam Essential Box.

Signature patterns are flies designed by working guides and tyers and produced under their names. This box reads like a who's who of modern trout flies: Mike Lawson, Mike Mercer, Craig Mathews, Charlie Craven, Lance Egan, John Barr, Pat Dorsey, Landon Mayer, Randall Kaufmann and more. It covers dries, terrestrials, emergers, nymphs and streamers, so it fishes as well as it looks.

How to Fish It

• Hatches: match drakes, caddis, BWOs and PMDs with the Green Drake, Missing Link Caddis, Film Critic, Sparkle Dun and Antonio's Adult.
• Dry-dropper: hang a Juju Baetis or Top Secret Midge below the Hippie Stomper, Amy's Ant or Foam Stone.
• Nymphing: fish the Copper John or Two Bit Hooker as the heavier fly with a smaller midge or baetis trailing.
• Streamers: strip the Slump Buster, Mini Leech or Baby Gonga along banks and through pools.
