Overview

The Umpqua Crystal Bugger Tungsten Jigged in Black is a streamer that covers baitfish, leeches and outsized nymphs in a single pattern. Black is the colour to reach for when nothing else is obvious. It gives the hardest silhouette of any dressing against a bright surface or a stained flow, and a fish looking up at a dark, moving shape does not need to identify it to commit to it. The marabou tail breathes on the pause, and the crystal flash body throws a little light without turning the fly into a novelty.

The tungsten bead drives it down fast, which is the difference between fishing a deep pool and fishing the top of one. Tied on a jig hook, it rides point up, so it works close to the bottom and over rock without collecting the snags a conventional streamer would. That opens up the water most worth covering.
