Overview

The Ditch Witch is an articulated streamer from Umpqua signature tyer Blake Jackson, built for Wyoming's North Platte River. Its name is a nod to the river, which many anglers call "The Ditch."

Jackson designed it for strong movement and durability. The articulated body swims with a lifelike wiggle that draws aggressive strikes from big trout, and it holds up to repeated hits from toothy browns and heavy rainbows.

How to Fish It

• Bank pounding: from a boat, cast tight to the bank and strip it back with sharp pulls and pauses.
• Jerk-strip: vary your strip speed until fish show you what they want.
• Sink-tip: use a sink-tip line to get it down in deeper runs and buckets.
• Tippet: 0X to 2X for big fish and quick hook-sets.

Choosing Color and Size

White Tan is a natural baitfish color for clear water and bright days. Yellow is a high-visibility color for stained water, low light and aggressive brown trout.

Size 2 is the big-fish size for large rivers. Size 6 is lighter, easier to cast and suits smaller water.
