Overview

Umpqua's Warmwater Essential Fly Assortment is a 16-fly box for bass and panfish, with two each of eight patterns in Umpqua's Bug Locker, an adjustable compartment box that keeps every fly in its own slot.

Bass and panfish are aggressive, willing and found in ponds, lakes and slow rivers almost everywhere, which makes them great fly rod targets close to home. This box covers the main ways to catch them: topwater poppers and frogs, swimming baitfish, a weighted Clouser, a crayfish for fish feeding on the bottom, and a Slump Buster that pulses on every strip.

How to Fish It

• Topwater: cast poppers and frogs tight to weed edges, lily pads and wood, let the rings settle, then pop and pause.
• Baitfish: strip the Swimming Baitfish and Clouser Minnow along drop-offs and points where bass ambush prey.
• Crayfish: crawl the Near Nuff Crayfish along rocky bottoms with short, slow strips.
• Panfish: the Micro Poppers are sized for bluegill and other sunfish around docks and shallow beds.

Each box holds two each of Umpqua's Swimming Frog Wt Belly, Umpqua's Swimming Baitfish Shad, Bass Popper Froggy Bottom, Bass Popper Mr Minnow, Micro Popper Chartreuse, Clouser Minnow Chartreuse/White, Near Nuff Crayfish Dirty Olive and Barr's Slump Buster Black.
