Overview

The Scott Sector is Scott's premium saltwater fly rod, handcrafted in Montrose, Colorado, and the successor to the Meridian. Scott builds it to cast tight, high line speed loops, turn a leader over into the wind and deliver the fly with a single false cast, while staying light and lively enough for short, quiet presentations to fish that are already close.

Sector rods have Scott's fastest recovery speed. Carbon Web, a light multi-directional carbon wrap around the main fibers, resists twisting for better tracking and durability, and ReAct tapers and X-Core keep the blank stable and quiet. The result is a rod that can pick up quickly and redirect a cast to a moving fish, then lift hard once it is hooked.

Smaller fish at close to medium range: S8464 (8'4" 6 wt), the creek rod of saltwater and bass fishing.

Bonefish, redfish and small stripers: S9064 (9' 6 wt), S9074 (9' 7 wt) or S9084 (9' 8 wt).

Permit: S9094 (9' 9 wt), or S90104 (9' 10 wt) for big permit.

S8464 - 8'4" 6 wt

Scott calls it the creek rod of saltwater and bass fishing: a short, quick rod for close to medium range shots at smaller fish rather than maximum distance. Trident Fly Fishing called it a phenomenal rod with surprising distance, and noted it likes to be overlined by one or two line sizes.

Best for: mangrove and marsh water, small redfish, snook and sea trout, bass.

S9064 - 9' 6 wt

Scott calls it the best 6 wt it has made, for small bonefish and redfish on the flats and streamers from a drift boat. It is a powerful 6 weight that rewards skilled casters, with the backbone for small stripers and snook in marsh and mangrove water.

Best for: small bonefish and redfish, snook, streamers.

S9074 - 9' 7 wt

A light saltwater all-rounder, very light in hand with strong line speed and loop control, and enough power to handle wind. It is softer than the 8 wt and favors feel and feedback, which suits tailing redfish, wading for bonefish and small-water stripers.

Best for: tailing redfish, wading for bonefish, small-water stripers.

Line pairing: Recommended line weight 185-205 grains. We recommend the SA Amplitude Textured Bonefish (WF7F) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Redfish Warm (WF7F).

S9084 - 9' 8 wt

Light enough for quick short shots but powered up for long casts into the wind, Scott describes the 8 wt as a 20 to 100 foot rod. A soft tip and strong butt make it especially accurate in close, for bonefish, close-range stalking and blind casting for stripers.

Best for: bonefish, one rod for most flats days, stripers.

S9094 - 9' 9 wt

Some anglers simply call it THE rod. It casts off the tip in close and all the way to the backing, and it is the fastest rod in the series and the closest to the old Meridian. Trident Fly Fishing named it their ideal permit rod.

Best for: permit, big flies in wind, blind casting for stripers, marsh redfish.

S90104 - 9' 10 wt

Big power delivered with ease. Scott positions it as a big-permit rod and a light tarpon rod, and it handles sinking lines and big flies for stripers, cobia, jacks, bull redfish and large snook. It is a touch softer than the 8 wt and very caster friendly.

Best for: big permit, smaller tarpon, stripers, cobia and jacks.

S90114 - 9' 11 wt

A tarpon rod that is genuinely enjoyable to cast and fish, mixing touch with power. Trident Fly Fishing called it possibly the best tarpon rod on the market, with near-perfect accuracy at all distances and an easier cast than other 11 weights. It also handles large redfish and big stripers.

Best for: tarpon, large redfish, big stripers.

S90124 - 9' 12 wt

Built for Central American river estuaries, Pacific GT flats and other demanding big fish. It is extremely light for a 12 weight with a powerful butt for lifting, and line choice matters for getting the most from it.

Best for: giant trevally, trophy tarpon, big-fish estuaries.
