Overview

The Elevare is the dedicated euro nymphing rod from Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO), built for experienced tight-line anglers who fish light line and small flies and need to feel a subtle take and answer it right away. TFO launched it in 2024, and it won Best Fly Rod in the ICAST 2024 New Product Showcase, as reported by MidCurrent. Trident calls it TFO's premium tactical nymphing rod, with noteworthy upgrades over the TFO Stealth.

Every Elevare is a fast-action 4-piece rod on a very high modulus graphite blank, and TFO keeps every model under 3 oz so the rod stays light in the hand through a long day of nymphing. TFO pairs the blank with REC Black Pearl recoil guides and lightweight single-foot guides, and labels each rod on the butt section so you can pick the right one out of a rooftop carrier. TFO makes four Elevare models; we carry the 10' 2 wt, the 10' 3 wt and the 10'6" 3 wt.

Which Elevare Should You Choose?

The lightest line weight in the range, for the finest tippets and smallest flies: TF 02 10 0 4 EL (10' 2 wt, Handle A half wells).

One euro rod for most trout water, from long mono rigs to light indicator and dry-dropper setups: TF 03 10 0 4 EL (10' 3 wt, Handle A half wells).

More reach, with a full wells grip and fighting butt: TF 03 10 6 4 EL (10'6" 3 wt, Handle B).

TF 02 10 0 4 EL - 10' 2 wt

The lightest line weight in the Elevare range, at about 2.5 oz per TFO. TFO builds the series to protect light tippets while still setting the hook securely, and the 2 wt is the model to choose when your rig runs the finest tippet and the smallest nymphs. It has the Handle A grip: a half wells cork shape with a down-locking reel seat and no fighting butt.

Best for: euro nymphing with the finest tippets and smallest flies.

Line pairing: A dedicated euro nymph line, or a light 2 wt floating trout line for dry-dropper. We recommend the SA Mastery Euro Tactical Nymph (0.022 in level) or the SA Amplitude Smooth Trout Expert (WF2F).

TF 03 10 0 4 EL - 10' 3 wt

The 10' 3 wt is the most common euro nymphing size, and at about 2.5 oz per TFO it is the most versatile Elevare. Trident's review compared the Elevare with other 10' 3 wt euro rods, measured its swing weight in the middle of that group, and found it well suited to long mono rigs, light indicator nymphing and dry-dropper. Like the 2 wt it has the Handle A half wells grip with a down-locking reel seat.

Best for: one rod for most euro and tight-line nymphing on trout streams, plus dry-dropper.

TF 03 10 6 4 EL - 10'6" 3 wt

The longest Elevare we carry, at about 2.8 oz per TFO. TFO offers the range in several lengths so you can match the rod to varying depths and conditions, and the extra six inches here add reach over the 10' models. It is the only model we carry with Handle B, a tapered full wells cork grip with a burl cork fighting butt per TFO.

Best for: euro nymphing where extra reach helps.

Elevare vs Other TFO Fly Rods

The Elevare is a specialist: fast, very light and long, built around tight-line nymphing. If you would rather have a general freshwater rod, the TFO Blue Ribbon has a moderate-fast action and includes 10' models in 3, 4 and 5 wt, and the TFO Solution, which TFO places at the top of its freshwater lineup, runs from 8' to 10' with a moderate-fast action. Among TFO's nymphing rods, Trident describes the Elevare as a step up from the TFO Stealth.

How much does it weigh?

Per TFO: about 2.5 oz for the 10' 2 wt and 10' 3 wt, and 2.8 oz for the 10'6" 3 wt. TFO says every Elevare model weighs under 3 oz.

What do Handle A and Handle B mean?

Handle A (10' 2 wt and 10' 3 wt) is a half wells cork grip with a down-locking reel seat and no fighting butt. Handle B (10'6" 3 wt) is a tapered full wells cork grip with a burl cork fighting butt.

Does it come with a case?

Yes. The Elevare ships with a rod sock and a rod tube.

What is the warranty?

TFO backs the Elevare with its Full Lifetime Warranty, which covers breakage from defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the registered owner, repaired or replaced at no charge. Accidents and normal wear are not covered free, but TFO repairs or replaces those rods for a replacement fee.

Which weight should I choose?

The 10' 3 wt if you want one euro rod for most trout water. The 10' 2 wt for the finest tippets and smallest flies. The 10'6" 3 wt when you want more reach. TFO also makes an 11' 4 wt Elevare, which this listing does not offer.
