Temple Fork Outfitters LK Legacy 4 pc Fly Rod with Rod Tube
$299.99 - $399.95
Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) began in Texas in the late 1990s, when founder Rick Pope set out to bring more people into fly fishing with high-performance rods at fair prices. Legendary caster Lefty Kreh led TFO's rod design team for 15 years, and the company still builds every rod around how real anglers fish. AvidMax carries TFO fly rods and kits from the beginner-friendly Pilot to the Legacy, Solution and Moment.
Why fish a Temple Fork Outfitters fly rod?
A Texas rod company shaped by Lefty Kreh
Rick Pope started TFO with a simple mission: great rods that do not drain your wallet. In 2003 he convinced Lefty Kreh to join the company, and Lefty went on to oversee design for 15 years, testing thousands of prototypes and working alongside anglers like Flip Pallot and Gary Loomis. TFO is still based in Grand Prairie, Texas. Its rods have come from the same partner factory for decades, where engineer B.J. Im oversees production, which gives TFO tight control from first prototype to finished rod. The new Legacy rod honors Lefty and the LK Legacy that carried his name.
Modern blanks with practical features
TFO matches materials to the job. The Legacy and Moment use carbon blanks with a Kevlar weave that resists ovaling under load and graphene reinforcement for faster recovery and better dampening. The Moment skips paint and sanding to cut glare on the flats. The Solution uses a higher-grade high modulus graphite for smooth casting at every distance, and the Elevare uses very high modulus graphite for the sensitivity Euro nymphing demands. Across the lineup you get useful touches like line weight ID on the grip, alignment dots, integrated hook keepers and REC recoil guides on premium models.
Which TFO fly rod is right for you?
- TFO Legacy: An extra-fast freshwater distance and power rod in 3- to 8-weight, built for big rivers, wind, streamers and steelhead, and the successor to the LK Legacy.
- TFO Solution: TFO's top freshwater rod, a moderate-fast 3- to 8-weight in lengths from 8 to 10 feet for everything from small-stream dries to streamers and steelhead.
- TFO Moment: An extra-fast 9-foot saltwater rod in 6- to 12-weight that loads quickly for fast shots at redfish, permit and tarpon.
- TFO Blue Ribbon: A moderate-fast, easy-loading freshwater rod in 2- to 7-weight for long days with indicator rigs, multi-fly setups and streamers.
- TFO Elevare: A fast, very sensitive Euro nymphing rod in 2- to 4-weight and 10 to 11 feet for tightline fishing with light lines and small flies.
- TFO Mangrove Coast: A moderate-fast 9-foot flats rod in 6- to 12-weight with saltwater-safe guides and a fighting butt, aimed at entry to intermediate saltwater anglers.
- TFO Pro III: A forgiving moderate-action rod in 3- to 10-weight for fresh and salt water that helps newer anglers build consistent casting timing.
