Overview

The Moment is the saltwater fly rod at the top of the Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) lineup. Introduced in 2025 and shown at ICAST that summer, it is built for sight-casting on the flats, where a redfish, permit or tarpon gives you one window and the cast has to load fast and land where you aimed. It is TFO's new flagship salt rod, replacing the Axiom II X.

Every Moment is a 9' 4-piece rod with an extra-fast action. TFO wraps the blank in a Kevlar weave to keep it from ovaling under load, adds graphene reinforcement for quicker recovery and dampening, and leaves the blank unpainted and unsanded to cut glare. REC Black Pearl Recoil stripping guides, blacked-out snake guides, an anodized aluminum double up-locking reel seat and a full-wells cork grip with fighting butt finish it off. TFO makes the Moment from 6 to 12 wt; we carry the 6, 7, 8 and 10 wt.

Which Moment Should You Choose?

Bonefish and redfish in calm conditions, smaller flies and softer presentations: TF 06 90 4 MT (9' 6 wt).

Bonefish and redfish as your everyday flats rod: TF 07 90 4 MT (9' 7 wt).

TF 06 90 4 MT - 9' 6 wt

The lightest Moment, about 3.4 oz per TFO. On the flats a 6 wt suits calm days, smaller flies and fish that spook at a heavy landing. It carries the same extra-fast blank, Kevlar weave and full-wells grip with fighting butt as the heavier models.

Best for: bonefish and redfish in light wind, small flies, quiet presentations.

TF 07 90 4 MT - 9' 7 wt

At about 3.5 oz per TFO, the 7 wt is a light, quick flats rod for bonefish and redfish. It steps up from the 6 wt for a little more wind and slightly bigger flies without giving up much feel on short shots.

Best for: bonefish and redfish, sight-casting at short and middle range.

TF 08 90 4 MT - 9' 8 wt

The 8 wt is the all-round flats rod of the range, about 3.7 oz per TFO. Reviewers testing this model found it very accurate at 45 to 60 feet, with high line speed and tight loops in wind. They also noted a heavier swing weight than many premium 8 wts and a muted feel, and found that longer casts take an active load.

Best for: bonefish, redfish, permit and schoolie stripers, quick shots in the wind.

TF 10 90 4 MT - 9' 10 wt

The heaviest Moment we carry, about 4.2 oz per TFO. A 10 wt adds the power to turn over large, wind-resistant flies and to put pressure on bigger fish, which makes it the pick for permit, larger fish and the windiest days.

Best for: permit, bigger saltwater fish, heavy flies, strong wind.

TFO backs the Moment with its Full Lifetime Warranty, which covers breakage from defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the registered owner; TFO repairs or replaces those at no charge with proof of purchase. Accidents and normal wear are not covered, but TFO offers a replacement section or rod for a replacement fee.

Which weight should I choose?

The 7 wt or 8 wt for bonefish and redfish, with the 8 wt the most versatile single flats rod. The 6 wt for calm days and small flies. The 10 wt for permit, bigger fish and heavy wind.
